What we do with your information.

What we collect

When you use the enquiry form we collect your name, your email address, where the property is, and whatever you tell us in the message. That is all of it. Nothing on this form is required that we do not need in order to reply to you properly.

When you start typing the property location, what you have typed is sent to Mapbox, a mapping company, so we can suggest the full address. That happens through our own server, so Mapbox never sees who you are or where you are browsing from. You can ignore the suggestions and type the address yourself.

Our server also records the IP address of anyone submitting the form, purely to stop the form being abused by automated traffic. It is held for one minute and then deletes itself.

What we do not collect

This site sets no cookies, carries no advertising, and has no tracking pixels. There is no Google Analytics here, no Facebook or Meta pixel, and nothing that follows you to other websites. Your browser talks to this site and to nothing else: no other company gets a request from you simply because you opened a page here.

We do count page views, using a tool from Vercel that works without cookies. It tells us that a page was viewed and roughly where in the world from, and that is the whole of it. It does not identify you, does not follow you between sites, and stores nothing on your device. There is no consent banner on this site because there is nothing on it to consent to.

What we do with it

Your enquiry is emailed straight to us and we reply to it. We send you an acknowledgement so you know it arrived. We also keep a copy of it in our own secure storage, so that an enquiry cannot be lost if an email goes astray, and it is passed to Terravale, the system we use to quote and run our jobs, so that your enquiry is waiting there when we come to price the work. That is the whole purpose, and we will not use your details for anything else, put you on a mailing list, or pass them to anyone for marketing.

Who else handles it

Running a website means a few specialist companies touch the information on the way through. Ours are Vercel, who host the site, keep standard server logs and provide the cookieless page counting described above; Resend, who deliver the enquiry emails; Upstash, who provide the storage that holds the copy of your enquiry and the short-lived record that stops form abuse; Mapbox, who suggest the property address as you type it; and Terravale, who provide the quoting and job system your enquiry is passed to. They act on our instructions and do not use your information for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Your enquiry lives in our email and in the copy described above, and we keep it for as long as it is useful to the work: through a job, and afterwards as a record of what was agreed. The stored copy holds the most recent few hundred enquiries and older ones drop off it as new ones arrive. If you would rather we did not keep yours, tell us and we will delete it.

Photographs

We photograph the gardens we work on and some of those photographs appear on this site. We do not publish a photograph that identifies a client, or name a property, without asking first. If a garden of yours is on this site and you would prefer it were not, tell us and we will take it down.

Asking us for a copy, or a correction

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Email admin@divalandscapes.co.nz and we will come back to you. There is no form and no charge.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can raise it with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
